According to recent announcement made by London Transport, tube stations across the Capital are set to receive free Wi-Fi services during the Olympic Games. Backed by UK’s broadband service provider Virgin Media, the deal will cover eminent underground stations across London. The first 80 are the busiest and major underground stations that have been named to gain web access at zero additional costs, this July until the end of September. 

Destinations including London Bridge, Oxford Circus, Leicester Square, Mile End, Tower Hill, Tufnell Park, Goodge Street, King’s Cross, Oval, Borough and Victoria are on the list to turn into accessible Wi-Fi hotspots. Other stations will be completed by the end of July. 

So, if you need to update your status, check email or surf the net – whether you are on the platform, escalator or ticket office, you will be charged nothing for the mobile internet services offered by Virgin Media during the Olympics and Paralympics Games. 

As planned and sampled earlier, the next-generation Wi-Fi service will now serve world’s oldest underground networks for London Underground commuters at no extra cost. Simply put, it will be the first time Wi-Fi and mobile internet services will be accessed on the tube stations. It is the tax-payers and fare-payers who will benefit from the free on the move internet by Virgin Media. 

LU commuters, who wish to keep their mobile services, can opt for mobile and broadband subscription from Virgin Media post-Olympic Games.
